A day in an Austrian thermal spa needs no rental car: your chauffeur collects you at your Vienna hotel, drives you to a spa in Lower Austria, Burgenland or Styria and, if you wish, waits nearby to bring you back after dark.
A Therme is a large public bathing complex built around warm water from a natural spring. You buy a ticket and stay for hours: pools indoors and often outdoors, quiet rooms with loungers, a restaurant and usually a separate sauna area.
Sauna areas are usually textile-free, so no swimwear, and they often have a minimum age; at Loipersdorf, for instance, the sauna village admits guests aged 13 and over. Check rules, opening hours and prices on each spa’s website.
The Römertherme in Baden is under 40 minutes away and, by its own account, has the largest free-hanging glass roof in Europe. Neighbouring Bad Vöslau’s thermal pool is summer-only; out of season only its sauna is open, says the operator.
Thermenresort Loipersdorf has an adventure pool with slides, a sports pool and a baby beach. St. Martins Therme & Lodge in Frauenkirchen sits at the edge of the Neusiedler See – Seewinkel National Park and has its own children’s area.
Loipersdorf’s Schaffelbad and the Silent Spa at Therme Laa admit guests from 16; at Laa, entry is by reservation or subject to availability. The Heilthermen Resort in Bad Waltersdorf admits only guests aged 14 and over.
Liked the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna? Rogner Bad Blumau was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser and calls itself the largest habitable work of art. Day guests should book their spa visit online in advance, before you book your driver.

Our own route calculation on OpenStreetMap data from Stephansplatz (St. Stephen’s Cathedral), 4 October 2026, without traffic; snow and rush hour add time.
Honestly, the nearest spas do not need us. Baden has the Südbahn railway and the Badner Bahn, whose Josefsplatz stop is near the spa (directions). Therme Laa is 200 metres from its S2 station (directions). The Thermenland bus runs from Vienna Hauptbahnhof to the Styrian spas, twice a day on weekdays and once at weekends and on public holidays.
A private driver makes most sense for Styria and Burgenland, for families and groups, and for the evening ride home: you set the times, you are dropped as close to the entrance as the rules allow, and nobody hunts for a platform after the sauna.
Example: Loipersdorf, the furthest spa.
Enter your hotel and the spa in the calculator, choose “Yes, with return trip” and a stay of 2 to 8 hours. The driver waits nearby, the return is included and you see the total before booking; every hour at the spa is charged as waiting time.
Staying overnight, or longer than eight hours? Choose “No, one way only” and ask us for the ride back by phone, WhatsApp or the enquiry form.
Either way, you pay online in advance. Several stops in one day? Book a chauffeur for a day.
Cars and vans pick you up at the hotel door, as with our hotel transfers; the Sprinter stops as close as the rules allow. See all classes on our prices page and more ideas under day trips from Vienna.

It depends on the spa, the vehicle and the length of your stay: see your fixed price instantly in the calculator above. Spa admission is paid to the spa.
